Terms of Use
OffGrid Messenger lets you exchange messages, photos and reactions directly with other people nearby over Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi — no account, no server, no internet connection required. This is the same text shown in the app before you can start using it.
Effective: September 2026 · Applies to OffGrid Messenger for iPhone and iPad
Zero tolerance for abuse
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior of any kind, including but not limited to: harassment, hate speech, threats of violence, sexually explicit content, and content that exploits or endangers minors. You may not use OffGrid Messenger to send, request, or solicit any such content.
Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for the content you send. You agree not to impersonate another person, not to harass or threaten other users, and not to use the app for any unlawful purpose.
Reporting and blocking
Every message you receive can be reported directly from the conversation. Reporting a message lets you notify us and, if you choose, immediately and permanently block that person — blocking removes their content from your device right away and prevents them from ever reconnecting to you again. You can review and manage everyone you've blocked at any time from Settings → Blocked Users.
What happens to reports
Reports made through the app's Report feature are reviewed within 24 hours. Where a report is substantiated, the offending content is removed from the reporter's device (via the block mechanism, which takes effect immediately and locally) and the sender is treated as permanently blocked from reconnecting to the reporter's device.
Because OffGrid Messenger has no central server, there is no shared account to suspend — blocking is enforced locally, on‑device, and takes effect immediately.
No warranty
OffGrid Messenger is provided "as is." It is not a substitute for emergency communication services and cannot contact emergency responders.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we will update this page and the in-app copy together, and change the effective date at the top of both.
Contact
Objectionable content or an abusive user should be reported using the app's built-in Report feature. Questions about these terms can be sent via our contact page.
